Stuff like this is only for the sake of trying to make the International Crapventions a little more "special."

When I went, it was to foreign capitals where there was lots of other "worldly" stuff to do. I could actually make an interesting vacation out of these. But an IC in Atlanta or Detroit? Ugh. The sheeple would have to fly somewhere else to have fun. So instead, the foreigners are "privileged" to this type of JW entertainment. Such a waste of vacation time and hard-earned money for these travellers.

What is this latest letter from the GB about?

we have been told this week that all in the elder and ms body will be read a letter from the gb about "make this the greatest month of activity ever"..... has anyone else had such a letter read out in their cong / servant body?.

i presume it will be all about "recommending strongly/insisting" that all these men should pioneer for the month?.

Technically, the GB poops in order to provide JWs "food at the proper time". Magazines aren't just printed, they're loaves pinched off. The videos aren't produced, they're defecated. Talk outlines aren't written and presented, they're dumped and flushed straight out to the "friends".

LOL. Just go back and reread about the OT Jehovah that couldn't destroy other nations without killing a bunch of his own. In his A-game, he was afraid of chariots with iron wheels. So it's logical to conclude that an OT WT god will drop rocks from the sky at the big A, but he'll probably take out plenty of JWs along with them, and he can't be bothered with the clean-up. Besides, he'll probably instruct the survivors to collect the jewelry and gold teeth before burying.

over the course of decades as a jw, an elder, a bethelite, then learning ttatt and wanting to leave, i'd collected a lot of insight into the power of "confidentiality.

" although the confidentiality in a judicial hearing is supposedly to protect the sinner, in actuality, i saw that it was about control and was protecting the power of the jc.. i didn't use any of this knowledge until i was called before the boe because the other elders figured they had grounds to remove me as an elder.

it was a work situation that only lasted a matter of hours, but it was enough that they seized the moment.

problemaddict, Elders like that expect that anyone they target should cower in fear and not dare to speak up for themselves. And while elders are eager to be blabbermouths, they expect complete control of the information as they fleece the sheeple. They were windbags... you were the needle. Very well handled on your part, I must say.

JWdaughter, The elders will pick and choose whatever reasoning they want in order to do whatever they want. These "accusers" have no interest in doing what is right, or even what is scriptural. Typically, they are the type that want to bring others down in order to bring themselves up.

this article title leapt out at me and i thought that at last we may see some solid argument as to why the wt teaches what it does, some "reasoning on the scriptures ".. well... the theme scripture set a good scene, being rom 12.2 " prove to yourself the good and acceptable and perfect will of god" .

ok , let's prove it - logically.. the article starts by citing the witnesses neutrality and refusal to bear arms as a reason to believe.

now i happen to agree with that stand , but is it unique to j w's ?

Pfft. It's truly become the greatest dumbing-down work in history. Now that I have improved my education, I realize how JWs don't really have thinking or problem-solving skills. Those things are discouraged by the WT mantra, "listen, obey, and be depressed." There's no room for research, think, discuss freely, and grow.

Seriously considering stepping down as Elder

i have been an elder for 6 years.

it's been the last 2 years or so that i've really seen the hypocrisy, but the ability to know the shenanigans of the society through the body of elders letters has kind of kept me in there.

i'm to the point now that i can't stand the hatred and bitterness that the body of elders has towards myself and my whole family.

That sounds like a great reason to step down. Otherwise, as was my case, they seized on the slightest reason and removed me. Things got interesting since I had plenty against them and wasn't "confidential" about it.

It sounds like you've got your career in order. That's a very good thing. If it came to it, could your wife support herself?

And regarding your marriage, my advice would be that if you decide that your marriage isn't worth saving, don't rush into a new relationship. Give yourself some time to adjust to freedom from the cult and find the real you. Then you will be in a better position to understand what you want from the next.

37 years later, I finally got the CULT thing

hi all, just happened to come across this site again after 10 or 12 years - i see some old posts of mine under a diff username (can't reopen the account, forgot the freakin' password).

i left the borg in 1977, age 21, haven't looked back but every now and then i am amazed to find there's some old, old attitude from the jw days that i find is still clinging to my pants leg like a stray sticker.. looking over some of the posts here and some linked ex-jw sites yesterday it finally hit me - it is an effing cult.

when i was in, we were always accused of being that, so naturally we totally spouted the society's line and got all defensive, etc.

Now for the rest of the story...

These four aren't armageddon survivors. They were resurrected because their parents had refused life-saving blood fractions when blood fractions were prohibited. They've been digging graves in paradise for years now and reached adulthood. However, they are resurrected to be "like the angels," meaning no marriage and no sex, but with the same sexual urges that angels have, as was documented before the flood.

These four don't know it yet, but the graves that they're digging this time are their own. Jehovah says they can't have sex or get married, but their hormones and desires are raging. Therefore, they will have to be killed for committing fornication in their hearts.
